Sandi Beaumont - Artist

My painting journey began in October 2023, when I joined a watercolour/acrylic beginners’ class.

Until then, I’d only really sketched; both my father and his sister enjoyed sketching, and it seems that something of that interest has been passed along to me.

The course was inspiring. Once we’d learned the basics of watercolour, our teacher, Alberto Soriano, introduced us to acrylics. And that was it! I was hooked.

My first attempt was a painting of bluebell woods, inspired by a childhood memory that has stayed with me through the years. When I finished it, Alberto told me I painted like an Impressionist.

Whether that was a professional assessment or simply a very generous comment, I was delighted!

I loved the freedom of acrylics — the colours, the textures and the sheer joy of lashing paint onto canvas. There was something wonderfully liberating about being able to experiment with different techniques and not worry too much about getting everything “right”.

My first exhibition came in October 2025. I was thrilled to have my work included in an exhibition for the first time.

I felt my work was beginning to move beyond the Impressionist approach Alberto identified in those early paintings.

Now, I’m experimenting more with freer, more creative ways of painting, allowing colour, movement and imagination to play a greater part in the process. I’m still finding my way, of course — and some paintings seem determined to make that very clear!

The opening of a second exhibition on 17th September, 2026, was a huge success with the Peruvian Console there to officially open the show. Vivid coloured canvases by Alberto Soriano, Maite Eusebio and Eduardo Cervino covered the ground floor walls.

The first floor exhibited art by Lorena Duca, Tracy Jo Hamilton, Janda Grove, Sandra Doren and, of course, me.

Ceramics were also represented with Mahfam Zohrabi’s wonderful pieces, all inspired by a childhood book.
